Data Information

How Undata Api reconciles country and area names across datasets.

Normalizing Country and Area Names in Data Records

Organizations spell country and area names in many different ways, so Undata Api stores the original name string on every record. That keeps it clear which area a record describes. A canonical list of country names was built so records can be linked across the various datasets. The original name for each record lives in the area_name attribute.
