One of the mini projects I have been working with on the side is a similar web services portal for both observation data – as you have here – and reference data. The service you have that shows available datasets is reference data for example. I am wondering if you would be interested in developing, or collaborating with the WHO, on a new service that mirrors this one from geonames.org (example): http://ws.geonames.org/countryInfo? Documentation on the service is here: http://www.geonames.org/export/web-services.htm… The issue is that the boundaries are not UN boundaries. I would also add two fields – one for a flag image and one for an image of the country. It makes sense to me that UN population, official names, etc. should be available as a web service, and I think this one case could be the most used service by international organizations.
